Mauritius Equity Markets | 03 Nov 2015 : Positive Equity Trading Persists …. SEMDEX Index up 15bps, SEM10 Index 39bps higher
PORT LOUIS, Mauritius, Capital Markets in Africa — The Stock Exchange of Mauritius was closed yesterday for celebration of the Anniversary of the Arrival of Indentured Labourer. The equity trading started the week and the November in bullish sentiment at the end of Tuesday’s trading session. The equity market capitalization ended at MUR 209.847 billion after adding MUR 327 million (about US$9 million) compared to the previous market capitalization of MUR 209.520 billion.
In the same positive mood, the Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) rose by 0.15 percent or 2.91 points to close at 1,884.35 and SEM10 index grew by 0.39 percent or 1.42 points to end at 362.53 points.
In respect of the market activity, the overall total volume trade ended at 9,745,676 (a fall relatively to volume of 13,745,191 recorded at the previous trading session) and the total valued traded was recorded at MUR 32.999 million (a decrease relatively to MUR 29.105 million recorded at the previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SMB Holdings recorded 8,708,747 (about 89.36 percent of total volume) at MUR 6.880 million and CIEL Limited registered 477,800 traded stocks amounted to MUR 3.249 million. New Mauritius Hotels had 211,346 at MUR 3.804 million and CIM Financial Services recorded a total volume of 111,500 shares at MUR 876,390. MCB Group also recorded 64,585 shares at MUR 13.675 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 23 traded securities there were 8 price gainers and 5 price losers, hence the market sentiment ended in the positive region. Mauritius Oil Refinery Limited surged by 1.96 percent to end at MUR 26.00, MCB Group advanced by 1.30 percent to end at MUR 214.00 and Air Mauritius added 0.94 percent to close at MUR 10.70. OMNICANE Limited closed at MUR 67.50 after gaining 0.75 percent and POLICY Limited accelerated by 0.60 percent to close at MUR 6.68.
On the contrary, Gemma Civic Limited dropped 7.41 percent to settle at MUR 25.00 and LOTTOTECH Limited faltered by 2.50 percent to end at MUR 3.12 and INNODIS Limited dipped by 2.00 percent to end at MUR 44.10. TERRA Limited traded at MUR 28.50 after losing 1.72 percent. IRELAND BLYTH Limited plunged by 0.23 percent to conclude at MUR 108.50.
The DEMEX index closed at 199.57 points by dropping 0.21 points or 0.42 percent. The market capitalization closed at MUR 49.069 billion after gaining MUR 104 million (relatively to MUR 49.173 billion recorded at the previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 220,647 exchanged in 15,465 traded securities. HOTELEST dropped by 5.03 percent to trade at MUR 34.90.
